Once you experience the light on Catalina you will know why the Plein Air Painters of America started their group there many years ago. Early morning fog, afternoon sun or late afternoon sunsets you will enjoy the breathtaking beauty and not want to put your brush or palette knife down. Be prepared!
Terry is an avid Plein Air painter and has painted throughout the California, Colorado, Michigan, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Puerta Vallarta and is now headed to South Africa. Terry has studied for 7 years with Susan Sarback continuing the legacy of Henry Hensche and Charles Hawthorne. Terry has won many awards in Plein Air Competitions and her work traveled around the country with America's Parks (The Beauty of Art) exhibit 2013. She also received a special recognition through the event for her painting of "Turtle Rock" Redrock Canyon, Nevada.
Terry is looking forward to sharing her favorite places to paint in Avalon and surrounding areas. Although Terry will demonstrate in oil with her palette knife she is able to help you learn to paint alla prima with a brush capturing the beautiful light in a short amount of time. It's all about large shapes and values. The workshop will also include talks on plein air, video's and a night time painting excursion. We plan a full 4 days, rest up and be ready.
