I had the pleasure of painting at the Lavender fields in Beaumont, Ca. this past weekend.   As I was working on the painting below the horse drawn carriage, pulled up.   They were beautiful horses to look at, but geez, the were blocking my view.   Another day in the life of a plein air painter.

It's My Birthday weekend!

"Fulmor Lake" 11 x 14 oil on canvas board/palette knife.

Last Friday a group of artists headed up to Idyllwild for their yearly paint out.   It's always a beautiful place to go and paint.  This year we rented a cabin in Idyllwild and went a day early to paint.  I had always wanted to paint Fulmor Lake so this was our first stop.  Upon arriving we read we needed a parking pass.   After finding a market that sold the passes we set up and started painting.   Within an hour Pat and Sandy had enough of the bugs and decided to go on into town.   Louise, Joan and I were not bothered with the bugs and stayed to finish our paintings.

Now you can see why I wanted to paint.   The bugs were annoying every once in a while but mostly they were not so I was able to complete my painting.
We then went into town for a nice lunch and to pick up the keys for our cabin.   It was a beautiful 3 story cabin, nestled on Tahquitz Drive.   It was so beautiful, that Louise decided to paint there on Sat.   The rest of us drove up the rode and painted Lily Rock.   I loved the meadow below.   An art enthusiast who came out to watch us paint said those were wild roses and would soon be in bloom.   What a site that must be.

"Lily Rock and the Meadow"    12 x 12 oil on canvas board/palette knife.

In the afternoon we went to Strawberry creek where I painted this 12 x 12 on canvas.  After we finished painting and turned in one painting for the show, we cleaned up and headed to dinner.

I want to thank my friends  for sharing my birthday weekend with me and for the beautiful dinner.   We took photos and once I receive them I will update this posting.

When I got home, my husband and son took me to one of my favorite places for dinner.   Benihana's.....

Update on "Full Circle"

"Full Circle" at Heritage Bronze Foundry.

I love this photo (above), you can see the actual scale of the piece.

"Full Circle" in the car on his way to the foundry.

I was so worried about transporting this piece to the foundry.   Eddie came up with the idea of boxing the bottom part and attaching the box to the seat.  We then put a board that I could hold onto to stabilize the piece just in case someone pulled out in front of me on the way.

Our first stop was Starbucks.  He preferred his latte without foam.   Didn't want to mess up his beautiful face!

We decided on offering 4 different patina's.   This piece lends itself well to any color.    Black masked red like Apache, black with bronze highlights, verdigris and natural bronze.

Limited Edition of 15.   The response has been great.   1/3 of the series is SOLD.    If you are considering this piece, contact me right away for details.  As of this writing #6 is the next number available.

Next update in a couple weeks, when I go to the foundry to complete the wax and finish the bottom for attaching to the base.

Until next time, PLEASE ENJOY THE ART.    Terry d. Chacon

Some exciting news coming up.  I was contacted this week by Harv Toback from New York City who has a gallery that wants to see my work.  I will be sending a couple paintings out on Monday, keep your fingers crossed.  Also more exciting news, I will be having a solo show in Feb. 2013.  More info on this as time gets closer.   Working with the curator now.
