"Sunrise at Turtlehead Peak" 8 x 16 plein air. Painted at the Redrock Canyon Conservancy, Redrock, Nevada.
Terry painting at Sunrise.
Finished and time for coffee. Thank you Lilli Miles for the fabulous photos.
As you recall, last April my art friend Patricia Rose Ford invited me for a week of painting in Nevada. We painted everyday in and around Redrock Canyon and Valley of Fire. The special occasion was to include a birthday celebration for our photographer Lilli Miles. I think she really enjoyed herself as did we.
While painting this particular painting which literally just came together so easily I felt it might be a good one to enter in a special show. So I did. This week I was notified that this painting has been selected to be part of a traveling exhibit in 2013 with America's Parks. Here is the press release.
"Sunrise at Turtlehead Peak" by Artist Terry d. Chacon has been selected
for display in AMERICA'S PARKS Through the Beauty of Art, an international
competition and exhibition, the purpose of which is to recognize and promote excellence in
original artworks depicting any park (national, state, provincial, county, city) in Canada,
Mexico and The United States. Selections were made by a professional jury consisting of: M.
Stephen Doherty, Editor, PleinAir™ Magazine; Susan T. Fisher, Past President American
Society of Botanical Artists and former Director, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute;
and Todd Wilkinson, Managing Editor, Wildlife Art Journal.
AMERICA'S PARKS will premiere at The Ella Carothers Dunnegan Gallery of Art in Bolivar,
MO, and tour to the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, 15 miles from Chautauqua in western New
York, and the Kenosha Public Museum, mid-way between Milwaukee and Chicago.
