"Paso Doble" coming to life

(shown in plasticine)

Making it's debut at the 2014 Afghan Hound Club of America National near Austin, Texas Oct. 21.

The Process

A mold is made from the plasticine piece and then a wax figure is made.

The wax is dipped in slurry several time to make a hard shelled mold over the wax.  A drip hole is added.

This mold is placed in a dewaxer and heated to remove the wax.

The heated bronze is poured into the mold.

The piece is cooled in a bed of sand.

The shell is broke away.

After the shell is broke away.

Placed in a sand blaster to remove more debri.

grinding the rough edges.

This is where we have ended, next sand blasting again, adding the patina and mounting on the marble base.

All who attend the AHCA national will be first to see the finished piece.   Stay tuned for the next blog to see it for yourself.
