"Gloomy Day" San Pedro Harbor by Terry d. Chacon The Plein Air Artists of Riverside (www.pleinairartistsofriverside.blogspot.com) painting location was San Pedro, Ca. A group of us headed out early morning and arrived at the harbor around 9 am. After a quick trip to find the restroom and grab another cup of fresh coffee we scoped out the area to find a place to paint. We chose the area where the Fisherman boats were located because of the nice reflections in the water. It's hard for me to find something of interest on gloomy days so the reflections were inviting along with the turquoise green boat. I set up my easel, sketched in my composition and proceeded to start my painting. Oh no! Where is that boat going? Yes, the turquoise boat packed up and left the scene. Luckily I had enough information to finish the painting. It was a great day painting in nice cool weather and I enjoyed eating at the Fisherman's Market. My friend Louise bought a Red Snapper and brought it home to her family. I have never seen such huge fish in my life. When going to the San Pedro Harbor be sure to check out the fish market as well as the Maritime Museum. I took these photos at the harbor. Talk about huge, amazing how big these freight liners are. |
