Painting at Dusk

Yesterday the PAAR were invited to paint during the first Thursday downtown Riverside art's walk. This cute little painting was done around dusk. I used a brush for most of the painting and came back with my palate knife to add some nice edges and highlights. Appropriately named "Waiting for Antonio's Pizza". Another painting for my downtown Riverside series. Enjoy! Terry

First Rose

Early this morning I was out checking on the new garden Eddie and I put in last weekend. Making sure the watering system was working and that the plants seemed to be doing well, when I noticed our first rose of the season in bloom.....I ran in grabbed my paints and my palate knife and started painting. Enjoy a 5 x 7 in oil done in Plein Aire Alla Prima- "First Rose" by Terry d. Chacon. Available in my ebay store.

Joshua Tree National Park 2007 w/PAAR

Today was such a relaxing and beautiful day with the Plein Air painters of Riverside. We met at 8 a.m. at a little cafe for more coffee and to order breakfast or lunch for the trip into the park. When we arrived I was so surprised as there was not a Joshua Tree in site. Great, now what to paint. I walked around until I spotted these lovely Yucca plants with some nice morning shadows. Quickly I got set up and captured the beautiful dark shadows under the Yucca plants as I didn't want to loose this very important part of the painting. The light was changing so fast. I like doing vistas and the view went on forever. The second painting included a formation of some large boulders up against another huge mountain in the background. The boulders remind me of the Flintstones. This was a smaller formation from some of the other huge one's that were behind me, but I liked this composition as I wanted to include some ground cover and another Yucca. Lots of climbers were coming and going all day. I saw some in the distance on the rocks behind me and could not imagine how they got up the nerve to climb these rocks. Made me so nervous to watch. All in all it was a delightful day doing what I love to do, PAINT! Enjoy the paintings. Terry
